MOAB -- Fire crews have been able to prevent a 60-acre wildfire from reaching homes near wetlands west of the scenic city of Moab.
No injuries and no property damage were immediately reported, and a voluntary evacuation of about 200 homes was lifted overnight.
Moab Valley Fire District Chief Corky Brewer tells the Deseret News the blaze near Matheson Preserve wasn't contained late Monday, but firefighters were establishing a line around it.
There was no immediate word about how the fire started.
Brewer says gusty winds were hampering the firefighting effort, and it could take several days to eliminate hot spots.
The National Weather Service issued a red flag fire warning for south-central Utah and the Dixie and Zion Canyon areas amid strong winds, low humidity and warm temperatures.
