City changes timing for parade viewers

CENTERVILLE -- The city is going to allow people to set up their chairs for the annual Fourth of July parade earlier this year.

The city council recently changed city code that forbids residents from setting up chairs along the July 4th parade route before 6 p.m. the day before the parade.

City Manager Steve Thacker said that there are valid reasons to change this, including the fact that is difficult to enforce because of conflicts with the children's parade.
