TOQUERVILLE -- Authorities in southern Utah say fire destroyed two homes and several auxiliary buildings in a rural community subdivision before flames were contained.
Washington County sheriff's Detective Nate Abbott says no one was injured in the fire early Monday afternoon in a development in Toquerville. He says the cause is under investigation.
KSL-TV reports the fire may have started in a grass area next to a recreational vehicle parked near one of the homes.
The station says residents were moved to a temporary shelter at the Toquerville City Hall and were being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Toquerville is about 25 miles north of St. George on Interstate 15.
Abbott says firefighters from the Utah cities of Hurricane and Hildale and from Colorado City, Ariz., assisted.
