VIRGIN -- Police have classified the apparent drowning of a 15-year-old boy in the Virgin River as an accident.
St. George police on Monday identified the teen as Uri Gois of St. George.
Officials say Gois and a friend were swimming in the river Saturday in southern Utah when both were swept over a waterfall with an eight- to 10-foot drop.
Gois was found about a half-mile downstream in St. George. Officers administered cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, but the teen was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The death was the sixth reported drowning since May 29 in Utah.
Authorities have warned the public to use caution around state waterways as Utah's rivers are running high and cold due to runoff from a heavy snowpack.
