State vet: Equine herpes scare is over

A news release from Utah’s state veterinarian states that, of seven quarantined locations, three (in Box Elder, Davis and Kane counties) have been released from quarantine. The remaining locations (one in Salt Lake County and three in Utah County) will be released at various times between now and the end of June, barring any further cases.

“Horse owners should feel confident that they can attend upcoming events with no more risk of contracting the disease than before the recent outbreak,” reads the release from state veterinarian Bruce King.
