SOUTH JORDAN -- Authorities say a woman is dead and a man critically injured after a shooting in a South Jordan city park.
South Jordan police Lt. Rob Hansen says witnesses saw the married couple from Riverton talking in a park pavilion shortly before the midday shooting on Tuesday.
Witnesses told investigators the couple received a phone call and began walking toward a car when two shots rang out.
Hansen says officers found the woman dead and the man wounded, but still breathing. He says both suffered apparent gunshot wounds.
The man was taken to a Salt Lake City hospital by helicopter.
Hansen says police recovered a small handgun and are investigating the shooting as a murder-suicide.
Police have not released the victims' names, pending notification of family.
