FARMINGTON -- City leaders have voted to amend guidelines on the use of fireworks throughout the city.
The council recently voted 4-1 to impose new fireworks restrictions throughout the city, instead of the eastern sections of the city as originally outlined in the provision.
Councilman John Bilton was the only vote against the ban, citing the need to review it further.
Specifically, the ordinance:
* Bans the discharge of fireworks within 150 feet of any fireworks sales location.
* Prohibits discharge of fireworks upon, over or onto the property of another.
* Bans the use of any fireworks within 30 feet of any residence, dwelling or other structure.
* Prohibits initiating any fireworks from a motor vehicle at or near any person.
