Roy bicyclist injured in crash with SUV

ROY -- An 8-year-old boy was hit by a car Friday night while he was riding his bike.

The boy was riding his bike through the intersection of 4800 South and 2875 West, going north, said Roy Police Sgt. Shane Hubbard.

At 7:26 p.m., an eastbound sports utility vehicle hit the boy.

Paramedics took him to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden in an ambulance. As of 9 p.m., Hubbard was not sure how bad the boy's injuries were.

Police are still investigating the accident to determine whether the man driving the SUV was at fault. Eastbound traffic is not controlled by a stop sign or red light, though there is a sign warning drivers of a crosswalk on the east side of the intersection.
