Tremonton police seek two robbers

TREMONTON -- Police are looking for two men they say robbed a local grocery store around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday and assaulted an information technology employee.

Detective Brian Crockett said the employee was at Ridley's Market, 74 S. 100 East, when he encountered two men who were attempting to burglarize the store.

"He was already in the store, (at the time of the robbery,)" Crockett said. "He kind of stumbled into them."

Once the two suspects saw the employee, they began assaulting him. He was punched in the face and struck in the back of the head with electrical equipment, Crockett said, and received other minor scrapes and bruises.

Crockett said the men left with several store items and some of the victim's personal electronic items.

"We're unsure of what they left with, but they were targeting cigarettes and electronic items the store had for sale," he said.

There is no indication that the robbers knew the employee, Crockett said.

Crockett said they are looking for at least two men and possibly a third who are described as in their late teens to early 20s and were wearing dark clothes.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Tremonton Police Department at 435-257-9555 or through the dispatch line at 435-257-3131.
