Comforting words offered at scene of Father’s Day shooting

OGDEN — When nine parishioners attended Mass on Monday night in the same church where a man had been shot during service the day before, they received a message of healing.

Roy to pay for retail study

ROY — The city’s Redevelopment Agency has agreed to spend $28,400 to an outside firm for a “leakage study” on how much money is being spent by residents to businesses outside Roy.

The study will show what commodities people are buying in Roy and what is “leaking out” to other entities.

Provo man charged in death of girl in ATV accident

TOOELE  — The Tooele County Attorney’s Office has filed charges against a Provo man in the death of a 7-year-old girl who was killed while riding an all-terrain vehicle.

Deputies with the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office say that on May 12, 32-year-old Chad Allen Tharp was riding on an ATV in Middle Canyon with 7-year-old Miranda Anderson in front.

Toole County spokesman Wade Matthews told the Salt Lake Tribune in May that a tree branch struck Miranda in the throat and tore an artery.
