Kaysville offers to sell manual generator transfer switches to homeowners

KAYSVILLE -- The city is offering residents the chance to buy a device that will allow them to safely connect a generator to their home.

North Ogden plans to rescind utility shut-off resolution

NORTH OGDEN -- Residents who don't pay their code violation fines may soon get a reprieve.

FEMA funding likely for Davis wind damage

FARMINGTON -- It appears Davis County entities will receive federal aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency because of the damage from the Dec. 1 hurricane-force winds that tore through the area.

Questar requests natural gas rate cut

SALT LAKE CITY — Questar Gas asked the Public Service Commission of Utah on Tuesday to cut natural gas rates by $13 million. If the commission approves the cut, the average homeowner will save about $10 a year, beginning Feb. 1.

CLEARFIELD -- As 700 South is expanded to create a four-lane thoroughfare known as State Road 193, more than $1.1 million will be used to install utilities on the north side of 700 South from State Street to South Main Street.

Crews work around golfers at Davis course

KAYSVILLE -- The National Guard has gone home, but efforts to clean up the damage from last week's powerful windstorm continue.

The temporary dumping ground, which was set up Sunday at the site of the future Pioneer Park on Angel Street in Kaysville, is slowly getting smaller as trucks continue to make round trips to the Davis County landfill.

Not all oppose North Ogden utility rate hike

NORTH OGDEN -- Only one person spoke against the proposed utility rate increase at this week's city council meeting, and several others said they understand why a rate hike is needed.

The city had proposed a $2.31-per-month rate increase, but at the council meeting, Finance Director Debbie Cardenas asked to add another 50 cents to the increase to include an increase in water rates.

North Ogden proposes utilities rate increase

NORTH OGDEN -- Residents can sound off tonight about the city's proposal to raise utility rates $2.31 per month. The city council meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers, 505 E. 2600 North.

The proposed rate increase is part of a five-year capital improvement plan that the council approved in June when it approved the annual budget. In the plan, the council decided it would raise rates every year for the next five years to complete necessary capital improvement projects, City Finance Director Debbie Cardenas said.

N. Ogden: Pay bills or water will be shut off

NORTH OGDEN -- The city council is taking stronger measures to collect fees owed to the city.

The council voted recently that the city can shut off residents' water service if they do not pay other outstanding bills relating to ordinance violations.

Clearfield OKs work on water line project

CLEARFIELD -- Improvements to the city's water infrastructure continue as officials award a bid for work on 525 North.

The city received bids from six contractors to install a new water line on 525 North as well as a new pressure release valve station on 1000 West. The highest received bid was from AAA Excavation Inc. for $272,889.50.
