Center will honor retired USAF officer

OGDEN — Harrison Regent retirement center will honor retired Air Force Lt. Col. John Stewart with its American Eagle Award for his service to country and his support of programs like the center’s Outward Bound Veterans Program.

Mount Rainier staff meets to grieve loss of ranger

SEATTLE -- Employees at Mount Rainier National Park are gathering together Tuesday to grieve the loss of a park ranger who was fatally shot inside the park.

Scuba exercises help stroke survivor recover

A Clinton man is going beneath the surface of the water in hopes of someday becoming physically whole again.

"I see me being a whole person (in a couple of years)," said 48-year-old Mark Wager, who is using scuba diving as a form of physical therapy after having a stroke on Feb. 6, 2009.

During that incident, which occurred in Clearfield, he was arrested by Davis County sheriff's deputies on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was handcuffed and put into the back of a patrol car.

James Thomas Luhn

James Thomas Luhn, 77, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Lindquist's Ogden Mortu- ary, 3408 Washington Blvd. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Burlington, Wis., at a later date, and followed by the burial of his cremains in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Dee M. Firth

Dee M. Firth, born July 15, 1925, in Bothwell, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011. A funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. Occupy protesters rally around wounded veteran

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Veering around police barricades, anti-Wall Street protesters held a late-night march through Oakland streets, a day after one of their number -- an Iraq War veteran -- was left in critical condition with a fractured skull following a clash with police.
