Purple Heart recipients sought

OGDEN — The Utah chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart is looking for more Utahns who have received that award so it can put their names on monuments displayed at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Nursing Home.

John Cole, an officer in the order and a Korean War-era recipient of the Purple Heart, said four tablets displayed at the home now have 498 names on them. He is sure there have to be more among the thousands of Utah veterans. Any Utah recipient, from any war, can get his or her name on the monument.

Cole said people should call him at 801-698-5038, or Frank Maughan at 801-782-7005. To qualify they just need to provide a copy of their Form DD 214.
