Purple Heart winners to be honored at nursing home

OGDEN — The Military Order of the Purple Heart is looking for any Utah veterans who won the Purple Heart so their names can be put on monuments at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Nursing Home.

Several monuments with names of holders of the Purple Heart are already at the home, and order member John Cole said more are being prepared.

All Utah veterans who won the Purple Heart need is a copy of their DD-214 or, for World War II veterans, a copy of their discharge papers with the award notice.

There is a $35 charge to cover the engraving.

Contact Cole at 801-690-6837, Jay Wells at 801-731-4717 or Frank Maughan at 801-782-7005.
