AYP report failures for Weber schools

A previous posting of Weber School District schools failed to make Adequate Yearly Progress, based on a Utah State Board of Education report, mistakenly included schools that were granted AYP waivers because they made significant progress from the previous year.

Concert in Roy will assist Japanese in need

ROY — A benefit concert will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Roy High School. Proceeds will be given to the Red Cross for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

(ANTHONY SOUFFLE/Standard-Examiner) Todd Schroeder, the vice president for marketing at Summit One Credit Union, hands out boxes of gift-wrapped shoes to students this week at Municipal Elementary School in Roy. Summit One and Weber State credit unions have teamed up to donate shoes to students whom school officials determine are in need of new footwear. This year, about 1,000 students of Title 1 elementary schools in Weber and Morgan counties will receive the shoes, thanks to credit union donations and a $10,000 grant from CO-OP Financial Services.

OGDEN -- About 1,000 children will have warmer feet this winter thanks to donations from members of Summit One Credit Union in Weber and Morgan counties and Weber State Credit Union.
