Ogden Canyon road closures impair businesses

OGDEN — As work to replace a 100-year-old waterline in Ogden Canyon marches into its fifth month, businesses want potential patrons to know one thing: They’re still open.

The project has included nightly closures, water shutdowns and plenty of congestion on the narrow canyon road.

Ogden Water Utility Manager Kenton Moffett said construction crews have faced a lot of unusual constraints during the project.

Water shut-off, road closures planned in Ogden Canyon

OGDEN — As the city continues work to replace a century-old water pipeline that runs through Ogden Canyon, residents living in the canyon will face added inconveniences in the next few days.

Utah Department of Transportation spokesman Vic Saunders said State Route 39, as it runs through the canyon, will temporarily close to all traffic — including local traffic — beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The canyon will remain closed until 5 a.m. Wednesday. It will close again at 10 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed until 5 a.m. Thursday.

OGDEN — Ogden Canyon will be completely closed every night for the next three months.

As the city continues repair work on a century-old water pipeline that runs through the canyon, full-night closures of State Road 39 through the canyon will begin Wednesday.

Ogden commits to $4M bond for water pipes

OGDEN — The city will issue $4 million in bonds to rebuild a 100-year-old water pipeline that is one of Ogden’s main suppliers of water.

The Ogden City Council voted to approve the bonds Tuesday night after a public hearing.
