Weber River floods Morgan County road

MORGAN -- One of Morgan County's newest roads is under 4 inches of flood water today as the nearby Weber River overflowed its banks.

County crews used bucket loaders to pile dirt along the sides of the Fairgrounds Parkway to protect the new infrastructure recently constructed between the Morgan County Fairgrounds and Round Valley Golf Course. No structures were threatened by the water, said Jason Lee, public information officer with the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.

According to Terry Turner, Morgan County emergency management director, flooding in the area is not unusual, and, in fact is "pretty typical."

County staff is "keeping an eye" on flooding in the county, monitoring water levels and relying on residents to call in with any reports of flooding or threatened structures, he said.
