Winter storm for northern Utah could last 2 days

SALT LAKE CITY -- The first major winter storm of the season is expected to barrel across northern Utah for much of two days.

The National Weather Service says a sharp cold front will enter the state around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The cold front will be followed by a burst of snowfall and strong winds that officials say will make for limited visibility and hazardous driving.

Heavy snow was expected in the mountains with accumulations of up to two feet by Wednesday evening.

The Weather Services says the storm may abate for a time late Tuesday, only to regroup hours later for another day.

Mountain valleys could see accumulations of up to four inches and possibly more.
