Good Samaritan killed on Utah highway

SALT LAKE CITY -- A woman who stopped to help occupants of a car that flipped on Interstate 80 was struck and killed by another vehicle.

The Utah Highway Patrol says it has shut down all but one lane to deal with the double accident, leading to a traffic backup on i-80 westbound around 1600 West.

Patrol Sgt. Robert Breck says the bystander who got out of her car to help Tuesday was crushed between a truck and her own vehicle and died instantly.

Breck says occupants of the rollover car sustained injuries that weren't life-threatening.

Another trooper, Cameron Roden, says light snow is leaving roads slick throughout Salt Lake and Utah counties and causing numerous traffic accidents.
