Over 2,000 in Morgan and Layton left without power

OGDEN — Over 2,000 customers in Morgan and Layton are without power this morning, according to Rocky Mountain Power.

Spokesman Dave Eskelsen said two outages have been reported this morning. The first started at 6:55 a.m. in Layton near at the Angel Substation, leaving 1,763 customers without power.

The second outage began in Morgan at 7:10 a.m., affecting about 600 customers. He said it is reported that there is a problem with transmission in the Devil’s Slide area.

Eskelsen said he is not sure if either of these outages were caused by the current weather conditions.

“There’s no way to know for sure,” he said. “It’s the obvious assumption, but we won’t know until we get a report.”

The Utah Transit Authority also reported that an outage in Clearfield has been affecting their Frontrunner route, but Eskelsen said they had no reported outages in Clearfield.

UTA has since reported that delays are minimal with the Frontrunner line, and most trains are now running on time.
