Man beaten outside of W. Haven tavern

WEST HAVEN -- A West Point man was beaten by a group of men and was clinging to life Sunday night.

Malachi Darcey, 30, went to the Outlaw Saloon, at 1254 W. 2100 South, in West Haven, on Saturday night. He left the bar with his fiancee, Sarah Whitaker, early Sunday morning.

That was when, according to Weber County Sheriff's Office, a fight broke out.

Darcey was treated at the scene and then was rushed to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden where he remained in critical condition Sunday night.

Whitaker told the media someone made an insulting comment as she and Darcey left the establishment and when Darcey came to her defense, he was attacked. She said employees of the Outlaw were unable to get the group under control.

The fight involved at least two separate groups of people and required a number of law enforcement officers from Weber County Sheriff's Office and neighboring agencies to settle things down.
