OGDEN -- Women across the Top of Utah have a chance Friday to craft, listen to motivational speakers, eat and be pampered for a day at the Just for Her Women's Fair at Weber State University's Shepherd Union Building.
Doors open at 9 a.m. There will be more than 50 vendor booths and six or seven classes being taught each hour until 4 p.m.
Topics range from digital picture organizing to relationships to blogging. The cost is $20 for the day if you preregister, or $25 at the door.
The Standard-Examiner is the main sponsor of the event, with Utah State University's Extension Service and WSU serving as co-sponsors.
The annual event started four years ago and was built around the Taste of Home cooking school the Standard-Examiner also helps sponsor, said Jennifer Thorpe, Standard-Examiner marketing and promotions manager.
This is the first year the Just for Her Women's Fair has split from the cooking school.
"We just wanted to get it on its own feet and possibly move it to a Saturday," Thorpe said. Organizers are looking at the Saturday option for next year to attract more people, she said.
One of this year's main speakers is Matt Townsend, a national speaker with a show on KSL radio that focuses on relationships. He also makes regular appearances on local talk shows, Thorpe said.
"He is one of the biggest speakers we've had, and we are excited to have him."
Townsend will speak on the seven basic needs of healthy relationships at 11 a.m. in the main ballroom of the Union Building.
Free health screenings will be offered throughout the day, as well as four different make-and-take craft projects. A mini-spa also will be set up by Marinello's School of Beauty, where women can stop in for a free manicure, pedicure or wax.
Women also will receive a gift bag with a spiral-bound notebook that includes information each speaker delivers in their messages. Other items and offers also will be included in the gift bag.
Those attending the fair can park in the east parking lot of Dee Events Center. Shuttles will run to the Union Building throughout the day.
Tickets can be purchased at the Standard-Exmainer offices in Ogden, 332 Standard Way, and in Layton, 67 S. Main St., as well as at Macey's grocery stores in Ogden and Clearfield and online at www.eshoputah.com or by calling 801-625-4559.
Online and phone tickets can be picked up at the will-call office in the Union Building.
