Davis tallies cleanup costs

FARMINGTON -- Davis County entities must collectively have suffered $3.6 million damage from the Dec. 1 windstorm if they are to receive assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Kaysville looks at cost of cleanup

KAYSVILLE — While the physical damage from the Dec. 1 windstorm has largely been cleaned up, the fiscal damages continue to bombard the city.

Farmington golf course continues cleanup

City officials will allow the disposal of green waste from a local golf course on city property, while cleanup from a windstorm on Dec. 1 continues.

In an effort to assist Oakridge Golf Course with the cleanup of an estimated 400 trees lost in the recent storm, city officials will allow the disposal of green waste on a city parcel of property, located near the course.

Golf course employees are expected to grind up the tree remnants as part of the cleanup effort, which will significantly reduce the amount of green waste taken to the Central District Sewer District.

Man injured in fall while repairing Kaysville roof

KAYSVILLE — An air ambulance was dispatched to a home in Kaysville when it was reported that a man had fallen off a roof while trying to repair wind damage.

It was reported that the 30-year-old man fell between 10 and 30 feet around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The man landed on his feet and suffered serious lower-body injuries.

Strong winds sweep California, fueling fires

LOS ANGELES -- Strong winds swept up and down the California coast Thursday, stoking fires in San Francisco and Ventura and leaving overturned trucks, uprooted trees and damaged gas lines in their wake.

Windstorm cleanup in Ogden leaves free mulch

The Dec. 1 windstorm left a wake of significant damage and many in need of help. Members of our community have joined together with neighbors, religious groups, Ogden city and non-profit organizations to help with the recovery efforts.

As a result of the windstorm, over 600 cubic yards of green waste has been removed from various locations throughout the city. To address the extreme amount of green waste debris, a temporary drop-off site was dedicated for Ogden residents.

Bountiful city leaders estimate the gale-like winds caused millions of dollars of damage to private property and will end up costing the city millions in an attempt to clean up, fix up and get things back to normal.

FARMINGTON — The cleanup of the Davis Park and Valley View golf courses continues, with a lot of heavy lifting being turned over to a Kaysville-based construction company.

Crews work around golfers at Davis course

KAYSVILLE -- The National Guard has gone home, but efforts to clean up the damage from last week's powerful windstorm continue.

The temporary dumping ground, which was set up Sunday at the site of the future Pioneer Park on Angel Street in Kaysville, is slowly getting smaller as trucks continue to make round trips to the Davis County landfill.

OGDEN -- A close brush with a potentially devastating fire at the Weber County Library's main branch during last week's windstorm underscores the need for a comprehensive plan to upgrade the 44-year-old facility, library officials say.
