OGDEN -- In preparation for this year's Climbfest, Ogden Climbing Parks is looking for entries of literature, photography, sculpture and artwork which depicts the mountain adventure experience.

There will be a heavy emphasis on climbing-related subject matter, but backcountry skiing, snowboarding and general mountaineering themes will also be accepted. Literature must be published after 2000. Artists can submit up to 12 pieces of their work.

Art that is chosen will be on display at local restaurants and businesses along Historic 25th Street and around the city for two weeks before Climbfest-Ogden 2008. During the festival the art will be displayed collectively in the Eccles Community Arts Center.

Artists are asked to submit their art in the form of low-resolution digital files via e-mail to info@ogdenclimbingparks.com by March 17. Artists must submit a digital file prior to sending original artwork to the Ogden Climbing Parks Office. Artists whose work is accepted will be notified by Friday, March 21.

Local artists are especially encouraged to submit work and Jeff Lowe, executive director of Ogden Climbing Parks, said an extended deadline may by given to those from Northern Utah.

"We want locals as much as possible," Lowe said.

Climbfest-Ogden 2008 is scheduled April 18-19.
