In 2005 Jay and Shauna moved their family to Blanding Utah, which included eight children still living at home. Jay and Shauna celebrated their 41st year anniversary on June 5, 2022.

Jay both worked hard and played hard. He was a master brick mason. While in Layton, he bricked many homes and business including homes that were featured in the Parade of Homes events. Jay loved sharing his talent with others and completed beautiful workmanship for all to enjoy. When the family moved to Blanding, Jay continued to work with masonry as well as teach his trade at the college.

Throughout their marriage, Jay and Shauna enjoyed spending time with family and friends and enjoying adventures such as annual trips to Lake Powell, skydiving and scuba diving. Jay had a passion for the outdoors and spent countless hours hunting, fishing, camping, riding 4-wheelers and playing in the water. His most cherished memories were the times he was doing these activities with his family. Jay loved people and could make friends easily, often developing relationships that would last a lifetime.

Jay was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a mission in Portugal, and often spoke of his incredible love for the people. He served valiantly in every capacity in his church callings, including as a High Priest Quorum Leader, and Elders Quorum President, Primary teacher. he was called to serve at the nursing home in Blanding as High Priest leader, a position that he came to cherish. Jay spent his life devoted to the service of God and his fellowman, always striving to help others in any capacity. His wish was to give service to others.

Jay never became embittered while battling cancer, he felt cancer to be a blessing that helped him love deeply, become humble and refine him. Jay not only believed but had a sure knowledge of his elder brother Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. Jay’s final motto was, “The Lord asked me to endure and endure will”. And so, he did! We are so grateful for his example.
