Beverly June Cross

Nov 19, 2022

1926 — 2022

Our loving mother and grandmother, Beverly June Cross, passed away on November 1, 2022. She was born October 28, 1926, in Kalispell, Montana to Alfred and Anna Potter. She attended elementary school in Kalispell and graduated from Spokane High School.

Beverly met the love of her life Ken Cross while Ken was stationed in Spokane while serving in the navy. They married on July 17, 1946 and were married for 65 years until Ken passed away in November of 2011. Their union was blessed with 2 sons, Tony and Craig.

Beverly followed Ken to Ogden, Utah to run Ken’s family business, Cross Western Wear, a family-operated business since 1878. This is where she found her love of retail and outfitting rodeo queens. She was steadfast at wanting to help to grow the industry throughout the country. She was involved in Miss Rodeo Ogden, Miss Rodeo Utah and Miss Rodeo America pageants. She was a mentor to many rodeo queens developing them into strong independent women. She was inducted into the Utah Cowboy Hall of Fame in the summer of 2021.

Beverly was an active member of the Elim Lutheran Church in Ogden.

Beverly enjoyed camping, fishing, Rodeos, and hunting. She drew a buffalo tag down on the Henry Mtns in Utah and from then on she was known as Buffalo Bev. She also enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, and visiting ghost towns in the western United States.

Beverly is survived by her sons, Tony (Susan) Cross and Craig (Pam) Cross; grandchildren, Whit (Amanda) Cross of Huntsville, Kallee (Sonny) Munns of Promontory, Kylar (Cody) Van Buren of Ogden, and Kenyon Cross of Ogden; and her sister, Shirley Ann Walters of Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alwyn Kenneth Cross.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Copper Nickel, 2450 Grant Avenue in Ogden from 12:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022. Please bring written memories to share. Interment will be at the Ogden City Cemetery 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
