William (Bill) Sanford Fisher

1946 – 2022

William (Bill) Sanford Fisher, 76, passed away on October 17, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on July 3, 1946 in East Liverpool, Ohio to William Lloyd Fisher and Josephine Boron Fisher. He was raised in Ramey, Pennsylvania.

Bill joined the Air Force in May 1965. He served two tours in Vietnam and was stationed in many locations across the United States, such as Washington, D.C. and Guam. He retired in 1985 after serving his country for twenty years.

While stationed at Hill Air Force Base, he met and married Jean B Hendrickson, of Brigham City, in 1970. They had one son during their 52-year marriage.

After retiring from the Air Force, Bill returned to Utah to begin his second career. He attended Utah State University and graduated with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management in 1988. He specialized in desert tortoises.

Bill loved to hunt and fish throughout his lifetime and became an avid saltwater scuba diver later in life. He and his wife made over one thousand dives together.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; his beloved son, William (Monique); two grandchildren, Ashleigh (Jon) Lish, and Nathan Fisher; and his Aunt Marlene (Oswald) Bacher of Virginia. Bill was predeceased by his parents.

A graveside service and interment of ashes will be held in the Brigham City Cemetery at a future date.
