Douglas J. Findlay
Douglas J. Findlay passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the age of 80 after an 18-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born July 30, 1942, in Ogden, Utah, to Blair Findlay and Carol Johnson.
He attended schools in Ogden City and graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1960. He then attended Weber State College.
He married his sweetheart Susan Davis in the Logan LDS Temple on July 6, 1967. They were married for 55 years. They raised three children, Christopher Jon, Jill and Shawn Blair.
Growing up he worked on his Grandfather Johnson’s ranch in Randolph, Utah, each summer. He worked at Hill AFB for 30 years, retiring as a Production Line Supervisor where he received many awards for excellence. He loved working on the F-16’s and especially supporting the Air Force Thunderbirds.
He then went to work for Layton Construction for 10 years as a Purchasing Manager while they were building the LDS Conference Center and Nauvoo Temple.
He served 15 years in the Army and Air Force Reserves.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints holding various callings including Ward Clerk, Elders Quorum Presidency, Stake Missionary, Primary Teacher, Assistant Scoutmaster and his favorite, Ward Librarian.
He enjoyed working in the yard, reading science fiction, working on and collecting model airplanes, collecting movies, coins and model trains. He loved attending the Reno Air Races with his family each year. He was a man of strength, fierce loyalties and a person who maintained all the things of life but most importantly he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Blair and Carol, and brother, Paul (Patty) Rice. He is survived by his wife Susan; stepmother, Lou Jean Findlay; brothers, Gordon Findlay and James Findlay; and sisters, Carol Anne Ambrose, Leslie (Brent) Vaughn and Teresa (Barry) Sanderson; his children Christopher Jon (Melissa), Jill Lewis and Shawn Blair (Lana), and his nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A viewing will be held in his honor on Saturday, September 3, from 10-12am at the LDS Meetinghouse at 205 East Elberta Drive, North Ogden, UT. Graveside service to follow in the chapel. Interment at Lindquist Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch in South Ogden, Utah.
