Donald (Don) Richard Gale

Sep 14, 2022

On Monday, September 5, 2022, Donald (Don) Richard Gale, treasured husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 75 after tirelessly fighting ALS, surrounded by those who loved him the most.

Don was born on August 20, 1947 in Ogden, UT to Richard and Betty Gale. He graduated from James Madison High School in Portland, OR before returning to Utah to work as a civilian for the United States Air Force. He took coursework and received certificates in Computer Science, eventually serving as a Computer Systems Analyst for 42 years before retiring. On December 10, 1966, he married Diane Lynne Jensen in Ogden, UT. Together, they raised three children, two kind and loving daughters, Kristie (Daren) and Keely, and a son Corey (Ashley), who was more like a best friend.

Don was an avid outdoorsman, and was passionate about hunting and fishing throughout his life, often passing on his knowledge to those around him to ensure their success. His family will fondly remember many memories camping together, catching fish at the lake, or working side by side to bring another trophy off the mountain. He had no greater joy than watching those he loved carry on his passions. He was known for his extraordinary knowledge about pretty much anything, encouragement of others, and generous spirit.

Don was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Glenda, and two brothers, Rod and David. He is survived by his devoted wife, three children, brother Bob, and grandchildren Kylee (Mikey), Brayden, Canyon (Ray), Kaden, Kyle, Lexie, Shaylee, Braxten, Camden, Kembri, and Tatum.

Special thanks to the Roy City Fire Department, Applegate Hospice, Janet Tueller (neighbor), Jared Nelson (from the ALS Association), and the Oddfellows (Ron & Mindy Vockler) for their kindness and support of the family. A memorial will be held on October 1, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the home of Corey & Ashley Gale (3875 Country Cove Way, West Haven, UT 84401). In lieu of flowers, the family would be extremely grateful for any donations to ALS research at https://www.als.org/donate.
