Dr. Myron L. Powell

1947 — 2023

Myron L. Powell, 75, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023 in Kennewick, Washington. Myron is one of seven children born to Marvin Schow Powell and Edith Caroline Peterson Powell. He had a heart of gold, giving freely of his time and energy to his friends and family.

Born March 6, 1947 in Payson, Utah, he spent his early years in Jerome, Idaho. The family had a dairy farm, his parents were both teachers and very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The family moved to Ogden, Utah when he was in middle school. He started playing basketball and sports became a passion.

Myron graduated from Weber High School in Ogden, Utah. Continuing his passion for sports, he graduated with 11 athletic letters. He was awarded scholarships to play football at Utah State University. After graduating from Utah State University, he was accepted at Northwestern University in the School of Dentistry. In 1974, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree and started his practice in Richland, Washington. Patients became friends and friends became family to him. While Myron had many outdoor hobbies, including hunting and camping, his true love was gardening and fishing. Every year he would grow large amounts of produce, giving it away to neighbors and friends.

He is survived by is his wife, Christine, daughter Sarah, sons Jesse and Ryan, brother Elwood P. (Sandra) Powell, Ogden, Utah, a sister Rosalie Holbrook, South Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by a son, Eric, his parents, three brothers, Wendell, Layne, and Grant, and one sister, Margee.

A memorial service will be held later this Spring.
