1926 – 2023

Our sweet father, George Cleve Albiston, 96, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at his “Home Away From Home”, The Lodge of North Ogden Assisted Living Center.

He was born in his grandmother’s parlor on June 21, 1926, in Smithfield, Utah to George Willis Albiston and Eliza Woolford. He enjoyed sharing that his birth was the only time he was ever allowed in the parlor.

He proudly joined the Navy, with his parents’ permission at the age of 17 and served from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. On June 21, 1944, his 18th birthday, he encountered his first battle/invasion at Saipan. He was a 20 mm gunner during this battle and experienced 21 air raids. He also saw action at the invasion of Tinian, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Dad was very patriotic and loved his country.

On May 5, 1949, he married his Junior High/High School Sweetheart, Lois Jean McFarland in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with 5 children, two sons and 3 daughters. Sadly, on May 25th, 1993, after 44 years of marriage, Mom passed away.

On July 1, 1998, dad was blessed with a loving second wife, Launna London, and her six daughters and sons-in-law and several more grandchildren. After 23 years of marriage and sweet companionship, Lou passed away April 22, 2021.

Dad loved his Father in Heaven and served faithfully in all his church callings over the years. He loved attending the Temple weekly with Lou and was saddened when his health was such that he was unable to continue his Temple outings.

Dad is survived by his children, Daughter-in-law, Becky Albiston, Kaysville UT, Lynn Albiston (Jan), Clearfield UT, Kathy Wayment (Terry), West Point, UT, Sharon Nutt (Paul), Clinton UT, Kellie Loftus (Ron), Brigham City UT, 6 Step-Children, Rosanne London, Lynette McKoy (Kenneth), Gaylene Seibal (Larry), Jackie Hare (Frank), Jerae London, Launa Lee Hulsey, Sister, Evelyn Saunders, Sisters-in-Law, Lucile Prince, and Joyce Albiston, 24 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way.
