Margene Cottle

Jul 22, 2024

1930 – 2024

Margene Rookhuyzen Cottle, born June 7, 1930 in Ogden, UT, was a woman whose life was defined by love, generosity, compassion, and unwavering support for those she held dear. Her glowing spirit, dedication to her family, and steadfast faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will forever be remembered by those she touched. Today, we honor Margene Cottle, 94, who has returned to her heavenly home on the 22nd day of July, 2024.

Margene was a true pillar of the Plain City community where she lived most of her life. After marrying the love of her life, Wayne Cottle, in 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple, she moved to Plain City and became an active member of the Plain City 1st Ward. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she served her church community with joy, particularly cherishing her role as the Primary Chorister. With a heart full of faith, Margene embodied the scripture, “Love one another, as I have loved you” (John 15:12).

Professionally, Margene worked for 30 years for the Weber County Recorder Office until her retirement. She approached her work with the same dedication and heart she gave to every aspect of her life. However, her highest priority was always her family. Margene was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always there with a warm hug, a kind word, or supportive gesture for her loved ones. Her large family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and faith.

Margene is survived by her sons, Lynn (Susan) Cottle, Brent Cottle, her daughter, Janet (Ivan) Smith, 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Joyce Eddy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Cottle, a son, Chad, her parents, and two sisters.

A viewing will be held in her honor on Friday, July 26, 2024, 11 am at the Plain City 1st Ward, 2280 N. 3600 W., Plain City, Utah. Her funeral service will follow at 1 pm at the church.

Margene’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. We invite all who knew her to share memories and celebrate the remarkable life of Margene on her memorial page at www.myers-mortuary.com. Let us remember her not just for the life she lived, but for the love she gave, the faith she held, and the joy she brought to all those who were blessed to know her.
