Mom Obituary

November 18, 1940 ~ March 21, 2018

Carol Maurine Rasmussen Bridges, 77, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on March 21, 2018.

She was born November 18, 1940, in Lapoint, Utah, to Rulon Howell and Mary Ann (Mamie) Norton Rasmussen. She was the ninth of 12 children.

Carol was sealed to the love of her life, Lyman Glen Bridges, on November 18, 1960, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They built their life together in Roy, Utah and were parents of six children.

While Glen was busy serving as a Bishop in two different wards, Carol could always be found giving compassionate service behind the scenes. Glen and Carol were involved in an accident in 1982, where both of them sustained severe burns. Glen passed away six weeks later. Despite this trial, Carol was an example of strength and faith to her family, as well as so many others she came in contact with.

Her core values were faith, family, and friends. She worked hard to make her home a place where love and belonging was offered to all who entered. It has always been a safe haven for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and anyone else who visited there. She willingly shared her story with countless people through speaking engagements, and we will never know how many lives she touched.

As a lifelong member of the LDS Church, Carol served faithfully in many callings. The title she carried with each calling was never as important to her as changing the lives of those she served. Her service was an example to all. Her testimony was shared with everyone she met. Carol particularly loved working with the youth.

Carol loved music, and many happy hours were spent playing the piano and singing with her sisters and children. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed gardening. She wanted her home to be a beautiful place, and developed many talents to make it that way. She also loved coloring, collecting and composing family histories. She was an excellent cook, and even later in life she always had plenty of food and snacks for anyone who came through her door.

She cherished time with her brothers and sisters, and joyfully anticipated her lunch dates with her brother and sister-in-law. Nothing pleased her more than having the family together in one place.

Carol is survived by her son, Dale (Tami) Bridges; and daughters: Darla (Dix) Crane, Brenda (Stephen) Grange, Rebecca "Becki" (Doyle) Diener, and Jennifer (Jeremy) Shaw; and son-in-law, Shaun Higgs. She is also survived by her 43 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; daughter, Connie Higgs, her stillborn daughter; son-in-law, Corry Clarke; her parents; one brother; three sisters; one grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018, at the Roy 7th Ward Chapel, 4900 South 2000 West, Roy. The family will meet with friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
