November 3, 1957 ~ November 12, 2018
Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend, David Akira Sayama, unexpectedly passed away on November 12, 2018. He was born on November 3, 1957, to Atsushi and Shirley Sayama in Brigham City, Utah.
He attended Corinne Elementary where he skipped the fourth grade. In 1975, David graduated from Box Elder High School. He then went on to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Utah; graduating in 1980.
After graduation, David moved to Southern California, where he lived for thirty-two years. He worked at McDonnell-Douglas, Tektronics, EFI, and Cambridge Financial; where he was always well-respected by his colleagues.
David married Amy Higa in 1988, and welcomed daughter Shannon in 1992. They later divorced. After moving back to Utah, he reconnected with Margie (Huggins) Anderson, the love of his life. They were married on June 17, 2017.
David was the organizer for all the family reunions. We were lucky that he took charge because no one else would have done so. David was an active member of the Honeyville Buddhist Church and he served as the 1st Vice President. He valued being with family and friends and always made others feel welcome.
He enjoyed his yearly trips to Lake Powell, playing games, cheering on the University of Utah, listening to 70's music, eating ^clairs, and spending quality time with family and friends.
David is survived by his wife, Margie; daughter, Shannon; mother, Shirley; sister, Ellen Kato (Steven); brother, Keith, step-children: Joel (Casen) Anderson, Sarah (Gary) Hess, Jake (Lucy) Anderson, Kate (PJ) Holmes, Collin Anderson, and Ian Anderson.
He was a wonderful grandpa to his nine step-grandchildren: Aiden Hess, Ethan Holmes, Marley Gurney, Jack Holmes, Noah Hess, Preston Holmes, Nixon Anderson, Oliver Anderson, and Sawyer Anderson. He was preceded in death by his father, Atsushi.
Friends may visit with family on Sunday, November 25, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 1941 N. Main, Farmington, UT; and the following morning Monday, November 26, 2018, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Honeyville Buddhist Church, 3945 W. 6900 N., Honeyville, UT.
