Fount Thomas Babcock, Sr.

April 3, 1935 ~ November 9, 2017

Fount Thomas Babcock, Sr., age 82, peacefully returned home to our Father in Heaven, on November 9, 2017, with his wife and family by his side. Tom was born April 3, 1935, in Medford, OR, to Zelma Florence Ray and Alpha Edwin Arthur.

He graduated high school as Valedictorian in Toledo, OR, in 1953. Shortly after, he started his career with the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a conductor and retired from the railroad after 46 years. He had many side jobs, including that of a Real Estate Broker.

He worked very hard and found great joy in providing for his family. Tom was a generous and charitable man, and shared all he had with everyone around him.

Tom married the love of his life, Vera Jeanne Manley, on September 26, 1972. They were later sealed for eternity in the Ogden, Utah Temple on March 13, 1979. They made their home in North Ogden for 45 years.

Together they raised his, hers, theirs, and ours. Tom loved his family and had 12 children, 31 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1966. He was a member of the North Ogden 12th Ward, where he served in many callings.

His favorite calling was that of a missionary. Together, Tom and Jeanne served in the Missouri, Independence Mission and the Wyoming, Martin's Cove Mission. Their testimonies touched many lives, but especially those of their future generations.

He loved the hobby of being a private pilot, and owned two airplanes. He also enjoyed the mountains and loved spending time with family and friends at their cabin in Island Park, ID. He was musically talented and many enjoyed listening to him sing and play his guitar. He expressed many words and thoughts through songs that he wrote.

Tom is survived by his wife, Vera Jeanne Manley; and children: Melvin Babcock (Laurel), Sherry Lynn Kimberlin, Chad Babcock (Valerie), Nikki Whiteley (Todd), Kelsey Hahne (Brian), Melanie Lyells (Jared), Tommy Babcock (Gayanne), Tiffany Babcock, and Melvin Mencias (Leah). Preceded in death by his parents; brothers; daughter, Shawna Casey; son, Rod Babcock; and his dog, Tippy, who we know was first to greet him.

Dad, you are so loved and cherished, and will be missed until we hold our "Family Reunion in Heaven."

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the North Ogden 12th Ward Building, 1791 N. 600 East, North Ogden. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2017, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, and prior to the services on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, UT.
