March 4, 1933 ~ November 7, 2018
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Franklin D. Moon, passed away on November 7. He was born on March 4, 1933, in Henderson Creek, Idaho.
He grew up in a loving home with a family that he adored. He was always a hard worker and attributed that to growing up on a farm. Frank served a mission in the Western States Mission, where he spent most of his time in New Mexico and Colorado.
He was serving in Denver, Colorado when he met his sweetheart, Leslie Jo Welch. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah Temple on January 3, 1958. They spent the next 24 years in North Ogden, where their four children were born.
Frank worked at Hill Air Force Base, DDO, IRS and even worked as a disc jockey on a local radio station. He was a business owner and was active in the community, serving in the Boy Scouts of America and on the Ogden Pioneer Days parade committee.
They subsequently retired to California where they lived in Carlsbad and Oceanside for the next 24 years. They loved the ocean, warm weather and many good friends however, they eventually moved back to Utah where Leslie passed away in 2011.
One year later, Frank moved back to North Ogden where he was blessed to fall in love with Julie Krey Ellis Andreasen. They were married on August 30, 2013. She was a faithful, devoted wife and was right by Dad's side until the end. We all love Julie and feel blessed to have her in our family.
Frank was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dad loved the gospel and loved to serve in any way he could. Two of his favorite callings were serving as a Bishop and as a counselor in a Stake Presidency in Carlsbad, California, because Dad truly loved ministering and serving others. Dad had a strong testimony of the gospel and that families can be together forever.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julie, children: Pam (Jeff) Tucker, Renae (Val) Hardcastle, LeAnn (Gordon) Hyer, and David (Miranda) Moon, 16 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Frank also loved Julie's children; Krey Ellis, Jennie Ellis Decker, Darcie Ellis Boyack, Hayley Andreason and their families.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leslie Jo; mother and father, Lula Merle and Ira Ransford Moon, brother Gale Moon, brother-in-law Jay MacFarlane, and sisters Cleo MacFarlane and Diana Kay Moon.
The family would like to thank Quail Meadow Assisted Living, Pleasant View Dialysis, and Encompass Home Health Care and Hospice for all the loving care they have given Dad. He has been served by angels in disguise as health care professionals.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel located at 1150 E. 2600 N., North Ogden Utah, where the family will greet friends and family prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Graveside services will follow at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 E. 2850 N., North Ogden.
