Gary LeConte Wilson 81, resident of Plain City, Utah, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 14, 2019.
Gary was born May 6, 1938, in Ogden, Utah. The only child of Genevive Chase and Don Harold Wilson. Gary married Pauline Darley on August 3, 1972, in Wellsville, Utah, the following year they were sealed in The Logan Temple. Gary graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1957, where he excelled in metal work, leather work, jewelry making, plastics and wood working earning state honors. He was also a member of the ROTC.
Gary worked a variety of jobs through his life including Kents Shooter's Supply in Ogden, Huskey Service Station in Willard, where he became part owner with Eldon Bennett closing the station after a 21-year partnership. He then went to HAFB as a machinist where he retired after 20 years as a Tool Maker. After retiring he went back to work for Kents Shooter's Supply for 7 more years.
Dads interests always evolved around the outdoors whether hunting and fishing running a trap line or hiking the Wasatch front through the summer months. Along the line he picked up trap shooting again being a life member of the Brigham Trap Club. Of all his talents that he beheld which were many, being a Master Leathersmith was something of true talent and beauty that he always took great pride in. Creating beautiful pieces of art to working rigs for everyday use.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pauline (Polly) Wilson of Plain City, Utah. His children: Nathan (Jaime) Wilson of West Haven, Jared (Tami) Wilson of Plain City, Adam Wilson of MSC, Damon (Haily) Wilson of Plain City. His grandchildren: Ashton (Brazen) Conger, Tiyler Wilson, Chance Wilson, Reese Wilson, Hunter Wilson, Taysen Wilson, Brielle Wilson, Riley Wilson, Jesse Wilson and great-granddaughter, Wesley Conger; also survived by his favorite dog, Kato.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Plain City 1st Ward 2280 N. 3600 W., Plain City, with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Please come join us in celebrating his life Friday, May 17, 2019, from 6-8 p.m. at the Plain City 1st Ward.
Interment at the Wellsville City Cemetery, Cache Valley.
