March 18, 1926 ~ April 4, 2019
A long glowing, bright light has transcended and will be sorely missed. Helen Jane Lemon left us all to be with her Lord, family, and friends on April 4, 2019 at the age of 93.
Helen Jane was born March 18, 1926. She was born and raised in Willard City, never residing anywhere but in the little town she loved. She's the baby daughter of Dan and Edith Harding. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1943 and attended Weber State College in 1944.
She married her high school sweetheart, Roy Lemon, in the Logan Temple on April 2, 1946. They remained in Willard on their farm where they raised their seven children. As her family grew older, she became a highly respected realtor for 21 years.
She was a pillar in her community serving on the town council for many years. In 2004 she was thrilled to accept the Willard Citizen of the Year Award. Helen Jane was a planner and participant in the Willard 4th of July activities her entire life and in 2006 she was the Grand Marshall for the 4th of July parade. All the way to 2018, she was the heart and soul behind the Willard July 4th Patriotic Program for decades.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as ward organist for most of her life and led the ward choir for decades. She loved her church and served in many church positions including Relief Society President. From 2002-2003 she served as a missionary in Nauvoo, Illinois. She was an organist in the Brigham City Temple and loved serving in the Temple.
Because she enjoyed sharing music, she taught piano and organ to hundreds of young people for over 50 years. With her enthusiasm for entertainment, she orchestrated many programs and musicals throughout her life. As an accomplished pianist, organist, and piano teacher, music was an integral part of her being.
Blessed with the divine gift of charisma and caring, she had a magnetism that drew others to her. Her gift for gab entertained family, friends and even strangers. She loved to play cards with her many lady friends. She was an excellent cook, had a well kept home and beautiful yard. She was an avid sports fan and sun worshipper.
She is survived by six children: Mary Jane Gustaveson (Ronald), Barbara Ann Felt, Douglas B. (Sharla Rae), Kenneth G. (Melanie), Randall C. and Robert W., 22 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Roy in 2001 and her son, Rodney (Connie) five years ago.
As the owner of Grammy^s Produce since 2001, with the help of sons Douglas and Randy, she was able to share fruit and vegetables from her farm with people far and wide.
As she wished, Mom remained spunky, sharp, active and happy to the very end. Helen Jane's service and care for others, musical spirit, faith and zest for life, will continue to bring forth fruits in the lives of those who knew her.
Funeral celebration services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 12:00 noon in the Willard 4th Ward, 80 N. 100 W.
