J Rodney "Rod" Lewis

Rod passed from mortal life at his home in the early hours of January 22, 2019, after suffering declining health over a period of months at the age of 88. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and grew up in Bountiful, Utah, the son of Alvin Thomas Lewis and Iris Marie Jacobson. He was acquainted with hard work learned from a young age at the family farm and orchard. He attended Davis High School. Soon thereafter he met Joan Lofgreen. They were married in Bountiful, Utah on June 8, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He made his career with the gas company, Mountain Fuel Supply later to become Questar Gas, where he retired as Layton district manager. Most of the time Rod and Joan made their home in Farmington, Utah with a short span of years living in Clearfield. They had seven sons. Rod served as president of the Clearfield Kiwanis Club and later The Rotary Club in Layton. He put himself through night school learning the intricacies of electronics and beginning his own part-time TV repair business. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served in many callings including Explorer Scout leader, ward clerk, bishop's counselor, home teacher, full-time senior missionary with his wife in the Oklahoma Tulsa mission, and temple worker at the Bountiful Temple. Rod had a special calming influence over all those with whom he came in contact. He enjoyed classic country music, fly fishing, fly tying, hiking, canoeing, camping, scenic drives including taking his trailer at times with friends and family, reading, spending time at a second residence in St. George, Utah, and completing many do-it-yourself projects around the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son, Thomas Lynn Lewis.
