Mary Sue Emmert Tomlinson, 80, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018, at her home, surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with COPD.

She was born on July 20, 1938, in Bristol, Virginia to C.L. and Louise Emmert. Mary Sue graduated from Ben Lomond High School, where she enjoyed being a cheerleader her senior year.

In 1958, she married the love of her life, Roger Tomlinson (an Ogden High School graduate). They lived in Arizona while Roger attended ASU, moved to San Diego and lived there for 35 years before retiring to St. George in 2005. While in San Diego, she worked for the Chula Vista Elementary School District.

An avid sports fan, Mary Sue enjoyed cheering on the Padres, Chargers, and ASU Sun Devils. Some of her hobbies included golfing, playing cards and bingo, and doing crossword puzzles. Her quick wit and wonderful smile were a delight to all that knew her.

Mary Sue is survived by her husband of 60 years (Roger), two brothers (Richard and David Emmert); four children: Michael Tomlinson, Bruce (Dianna) Tomlinson, Gary (Jennifer) Tomlinson, and Stacey (Steve) Higgins; five grandchildren: Shannon (David) Consalvo, Stephanie and Scott Higgins, and Trevor and Austin Tomlinson; one great-grandson (Vincent); and several nieces and nephews who she adored. She loved her family and was very proud of all of her children and grandchildren.

A celebration of Life to be held in San Diego in February 2019.
