Orlando "Big O"^Nelson was born on May 11, 1954, in Ogden Utah, to Richard Nelson and Julia Ann Brown Nelson. He passed away on November 2, 2018.

He was a giant in stature but also in heart. Orlando was raised in Layton, Utah, where he participated in little league sports and sang in a gospel quartet with his brothers.

He attended Layton High School where he excelled academically and was a star football and basketball player. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Business at Utah State University, where he played football at the tight end position.

He later had a short stint in the NFL as a Detroit Lion. Orlando's greatest achievement was being the father of his children, Otis and Veronica. The brightest smile ever shown on his face was when he had the opportunity to talk about his children, their spouses and his beautiful grandchildren.

He was a very happy grandpa and loved Face Timing his grandchildren whenever he could.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Julia and Richard Nelson, and brother Julius Wayne Nelson.

He is survived by his children, Otis (Tennli) Nelson, Veronica (Tyler) Sneddon; grandchildren, Kennedy Nelson, and McCoy, and Perri Sneddon; brothers, Kenneth (Sharon) Nelson, Claude Nelson; sisters, Barbara (Dan) Harris, Glory (Calvin) Stanton and Janice Johnson; aunt and uncle Mary and Tommie Tucker, their daughter Eileen (David) Cosby, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and prior to services on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the same location.
