Joseph L. Failoni celebrated his 80th birthday on May 8 at an open house with family and friends. He was born May 8, 1930, to Amadio and Mary Failoni in Kemmerer, Wyo. He grew up on a cattle and sheep ranch at Nugget Canyon, 16 miles west of Kemmerer. After graduating from Kemmerer High School in 1949, he spent four years in the U.S. Air Force. On Feb. 25, 1956, he married Marlene Laughter of Montpelier, Idaho. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for two years and civil service for 33 years, starting as an aircraft electrician and retiring as a quality control specialist. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His daughters and their spouses are Debora and Don Hicken, Stansbury Park; and Tammy and Scott Nye, Hooper. He has seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His hobbies are taking care of his small farm, gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling, woodworking and playing country music. His favorite pastime is spending time with his family.
