Hundreds of friends, community members and family gathered to celebrate the life of ninth grader Dakota Kilburn, 14, during a vigil Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Syracuse Jr. High School. Dakota died Tuesday after being struck by two vehicles as he walked in a crosswalk along 2000 West in front of the school on Monday night. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family from 5-8 p.m. Friday and 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
