OGDEN — Dancers from major American ballet companies are in town this week for “Stars of American Ballet,” a program that will culminate with a performance at Weber State University on Friday.
Stars of American Ballet is a nonprofit ensemble devoted to bringing high-caliber dance to cities that don’t regularly enjoy ballet performances. Founded by New York City Ballet principal dancer Daniel Ulbricht, the group offer dance-education programs — master classes, pre-performance lectures, roundtable discussions and the like — as well as high-caliber dance performances in the host city. It also provides free tickets for underprivileged children.
In addition to master classes with various student dancers in Ogden, members of the company will participate in a roundtable discussion, “#MeToo in the Performing Arts,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in Room 113 of the Browning Center on campus, 3848 Harrison Blvd. The event will be a frank conversation about sexual harassment in the arts.
The visit concludes with a performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in the Browning Center’s Austad Auditorium. Tickets are $5 to $30, available at seatadvisor.com.
