OGDEN — Giddy up, Utahns! Ogden Pioneer Days will soon be in full swing, and one of the mane events is just around the corner.
Hundreds of cowboys and cowgirls from all over the Wild West gather each year in downtown Ogden for the annual Horse & Hitch Parade, where they will take to the streets with wagons, carriages and horses of all colors, sizes and breeds.

According to previous Standard-Examiner coverage, the 2017 event drew more than 500 participants. Although the deadline to register as a participant in this year’s parade has passed, all members of the public are invited to pull up a chair and cheer them on at this traditional, family-friendly event.
The 2018 event begins at 7 p.m. Monday, July 16. Starting from Park Boulevard, parade participants will trot south down Washington Boulevard, take a right on 26th Street, another right on Grant Avenue, and again on 25th Street before turning left and hoofing it back up Washington to Park Boulevard.
If you have yet to experience this equestrian spectacle, quit stalling. Dust off that old cowboy hat and take part in Utah’s biggest statehood celebration.
