LAYTON — The Gangrene Film Festival returns to Layton this weekend for its 18th installment.

The event, called Utah’s biggest comedy film festival, begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the Kenley Amphitheater, 403 N. Wasatch Drive.

In addition to the usual short films, this year’s festival involves the cult classic “Space Odyssey” and a live performance by the Rustmonster Band. The film is being offered in “Gangrene Vision” — which includes “a live, original soundtrack performed by the Rustmonster Band and audience participation cues built right into the film,” according to information on the Davis Arts Council website.

Tickets range from $10 for an individual to $40 for a family pass for six. Concessions are available and blankets and chairs are allowed.

For more information, go to www.davisarts.org or call 801-546-8575.
