SNOWBASIN — If you like your folk music with a bit of an edge, have we got a show for you.

Like clockwork, the weekly Blues, Brews & BBQ free concert series returns on Sunday, Sept. 16, bringing with it a couple of artists known for putting their own distinct spins on the folk genre. Music begins at 12:30 p.m. and continues through 4:30 p.m. on the lawn outside Earl’s Lodge at Snowbasin Resort, 3925 E. Snowbasin Road, above Huntsville.

First up is country/folk from Timmy the Teeth, a self-described “wonky-tonk” singer-songwriter from American Fork. TTT — aka Timothy George — has been singing and playing music from an early age, according to a news release from Snowbasin Resort.

“Growing up, the home was filled with music from his sisters playing piano or his dad keeping rhythm with the butter knife in anticipation for his toast to pop out of the toaster,” the release states.

Sunday’s headliner will be the Salt Lake City six-piece band Folk Hogan. The group plays punk, metal and other high-velocity music, using traditional folk instruments like banjo, mandolin and accordion.

According to the band’s bio: “Folk Hogan brings a mix of experienced entertainers, humor, and whiskey that will keep a crowd dancing while wishing they had a backup liver.”

No outside food or beverage is allowed. Dogs are welcome — except in the lodges or on the patio — but must be on a leash at all times. Umbrellas, shade tents and chairs are also permitted.

A barbecue lunch, as well as several local brews on tap, will be available for sale. There are also activities and games for children, including a bungee jump, climbing wall and a playground.

Admission is free.
