‘one singular sensation’ coming to Ziegfeld

SOUTH OGDEN — “A Chorus Line” opens this weekend at The Ziegfeld Theater.

The musical centers on a group of Broadway dancers who endure a grueling audition process for a part on a chorus line. Memorable songs include “What I Did for Love,” “One” and “I Can Do That.” It is the winner of nine Tony Awards, and earned the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The play is directed by Amber Hansen, with music direction by Heidi Potter Hunt and choreography by McKenna Ward.

An opening-night gala begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with a $5 student night on Saturday, at The Ziegfeld Theater, 3934 S. Washington Blvd. Shows continue at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, with a 2 p.m. matinee on June 22.

“A Chorus Line” features mature content, and theater management advises parental discretion.

‘Music Man’ to be staged at Terrace Plaza

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Trouble in River City equals enjoyment for audiences in Northern Utah.

“The Music Man” opens Friday, June 14, at Beverly’s Terrace Plaza Playhouse, 99 E. 4700 South.

“The Music Man” tells the story of “Professor” Harold Hill, a traveling con man who poses as a band organizer to fleece the town of River City, Iowa. When local librarian Marian Paroo enters the picture, will the con man risk it all for love?

The show became a hit on Broadway in the 1950s, winning five Tony Awards — including Best Musical. The original cast album also won a Grammy. Songs include “Seventy Six Trombones,” “Lida Rose,” “Shipoopi” and “Till There Was You.”

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, through July 27.
