Cottages of Hope has been serving the Ogden community since 2008 by providing individuals and households with no-cost opportunities to learn how to become financially self-sufficient. We aim to bridge the gap between frontline (basic needs) services and upward mobility through helping obtain permanent employment and providing money management education.

Cottages of Hope believes in a self-sufficiency approach to learning, meaning customers develop the skills needed to become financially self-sustaining. The self-sufficiency approach gives customers the ability to take personal responsibility for their education, financial decisions and ultimately, success. As they begin to apply their newfound knowledge in their daily lives, they become more confident in dealing with adversity and overcoming difficult situations.

Our coaches are passionate about empowering the customers they work with. Our one-on-one coaching programs aspire to help customers recognize their values and goals, identify barriers and develop a personalized step-by-step action plan to pull them out of poverty and into the middle-class stream.

Cottages of Hope is also the proud host of the SparkPoint Center, which brings together effective nonprofit and government partners to help customers build assets, increase income and pay down debt. Having multiple organizations under one roof allows case managers from different agencies to coordinate their efforts, which creates a seamless and holistic experience for customers as they progress towards greater levels of independence.

Why do we offer these services for free? The answer is simple: we want low-income individuals and households to realize their potential and achieve greater levels of financial stability so they can accomplish their financial goals, but without incurring additional expenses to their already limited household resources. Whether a customer’s goal is to buy a reliable car, improve his or her credit score, or start saving for the first time, we want provide guidance and education that builds confidence and creates the desire to reach for bigger financial goals.

The services offered at Cottages of Hope and the SparkPoint Center are provided at no cost to our customers, made possible through generous contributions, volunteers and partner agencies in the community.
