‘Back the Blue’ event supports police safety
WEST POINT — A fun event to support police officers is planned this weekend.
“Back the Blue” is a barbecue and fair beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Loy Blake Park, 3500 W. 550 North, West Point. The event will feature live entertainment, food, games, face-painting, vendors, raffles, a fire department “spray down,” and much more.
Admission is free.
The event is sponsored by the nonprofit Blue Line Ladies Foundation, a group of police officers’ wives who are committed to improving safety for their husbands and other law enforcement members. All proceeds from the event will be used to purchase protective gear for police officers.

Patio and Home Show headed to Golden Spike
OGDEN — Just in time for the warmer weather, the Ogden Summer Patio & Home Show comes to town this weekend.
The event will be held Friday through Sunday, May 17-19, at the Golden Spike Event Center Exhibit Hall, 1000 N. 1200 West. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is free.
The show will include booths and demonstrations from local and national experts in the home, garden and patio industry.

Chalk art festival brings magic to Bountiful
BOUNTIFUL — It’s time to make a little magic on the sidewalk.
Main Street will become a palette this week as more than 130 artists create chalk paintings during the “Magic on the Sidewalk” chalk art festival in downtown Bountiful.
Artists began creating their artworks on Wednesday. The festival continues 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today through Saturday along Bountiful’s Historic Main Street.
On Friday night, food trucks will be offering items for sale from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a portion of the proceeds going to the Joy Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young people through the arts. Attendees can also vote for their favorite piece of art that evening.
Festival awards will be announced at 10:30 a.m. Saturday on the city’s Post Office Plaza at Center and Main streets.
